Three teenagers — two from Calgary and one from Airdrie — have been charged in connection to an armed robbery in Airdrie on Thursday.

RCMP said the incident took place around 2 p.m. near the Bayside Business Plaza in Airdrie, west of Calgary. Three youths were robbed of a cell phone and an undisclosed amount of money after a group of males approached them outside of a business, said Mounties.

During the encounter, the suspects threatened the victims with replica firearms and canisters of bear spray. There were no injuries and they fled the scene.

Airdrie RCMP located and arrested the three suspects shortly after the incident. They also recovered the paraphernalia.

Two Calgarians, ages 16 and 17, and one 16 year old from Airdrie have been charged with robbery, and some are facing additional charges related to resisting arrest and carrying a concealed weapon.
